O.k., time to attempt adding some images. The first one is my first design for the project. The idea is basically transparent spheres of various sizes floating (in space?) connected together by tubes. Thought it might make an interesting 3D piece, though it needs developing.

I sketched the outline in pencil then added in the background using pastels. Any sketches at this stage are going to be rough as there may be a lot and attention to detail is too time consuming at the moment.

The next idea I had was to experiment with perspective. I suppose it's creating the illusion of 3D space on a 2D plane. At first glance it seems like the centre of the image is a distant speck. I'm sure there is a lot more that can be done with this image - adding colour, shading, maybe a 3D model. The first variation I tried was to add areas of flat colour to give the rectangles a sense of volume. I did scan this to upload it but it seem's to have disappeared into the computer somewhere. I thought a scanned image might be quicker to upload as the ones I had photographed were taking ages to upload but I guess scanning's no good if you can't find the image afterwards.



Hi all, has taken a while to get my second post up due to some teething problems with the old interweb yoke but hopefully it's sorted now. To bring you up to date, we had our first group discussion/presentation last friday (21st) where everone got to see other peoples work to date, and had their own on display. Seemed to go o.k., had a few sketches done - admittedly fairly rough - a share of written work ( ideas and research ) and some ideas in the sketch book. Was a good experience in fact, to try and analyse someone else's work and have your own analysed by others, should make for a lot of constructive critisism over the next few weeks.
Yesterday (24th) had a couple of tutorials and spent the rest of the time working on the sketchbook.
Today I started off in the computer room trying to sort out the previous teething problems and though unsuccessful earlier on I think it should be o.k. now. Spent a lot of the day in the library researching artist's who have produced work along a similar line (excuse the pun), bought some art supplies off the art supply guy - keeping it local - and got some research done on the computer.
Will get around to putting up some sketches, photo's etc. as soon as I can.
